Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Debuts, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the upcoming animated film.

The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the outer limits of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Classic Games

Similar to the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.

Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The movie will see the return of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive around the time of the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his friends.

Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
